Community College

Community colleges, and other two-year colleges, offer outstanding opportunities for students to build a strong academic foundation while saving thousands of dollars per year.

Our local community college is Raritan Valley Community College, in Branchburg. RVCC provides an excellent education for students hoping to transfer to a four-year college, as well as those on a more career-focused path. A rigorous Honors College is available for those seeking an additional challenge. Career programs such as Auto Tech and Cosmetology have newly constructed, impressive facilities that offer hands-on experience. In addition, RVCC offers many extracurricular opportunities, including access to athletics, clubs, EOF, ROTC programs and the National Guard. Counseling and disability services are available. Students can choose to attend classes part or full time. Financial aid is available, and students in the top 15% of the HHS graduating class may be eligible for the NJ STARS program, which covers full tuition and fees!

Consider these facts:

  • 45% of all students who earned a Bachelor’s degree from a NJ college or university had previously completed courses at a community college

  • Students who complete their first two years at a community college before transferring to a four-year school save $21,000 in tuition.

  • NJ is the fifth-best in the country in students going on to complete their Bachelor’s degrees
