Summer of 2020 - Save the Date!

The 2020 Summer Music Program will begin on Monday, June 29th and end on Friday, July 24th.

Dear Auten Road Intermediate School Instrumental Music Students,

We hope that you are having a great year learning and loving music! As you begin to think ahead to spring and summer, plan to continue your music studies with us in the Summer Music Program. The program has many opportunities designed to build upon your existing skills while continuing to learn music with your friends! The program runs for four weeks in July at Auten Road Intermediate School. All students will have 4 periods of daily music instruction! Classes each day will begin at 9:00 a.m. and end at 12:00 noon.

Depending upon your grade level, class assignments/choices will include something unique and different with highly qualified and enthusiastic teachers!

For 5th graders going into 6th grade: (some class titles will be updated and changed)

• Intermediate Wind Ensemble with Mrs. Ciacciarelli, HMS Band Director
• Intermediate Orchestra with Mr. Gall, HMS Orchestra Director
• Music Theory 1 with Mrs. Krick, Triangle Elementary School Music Teacher
• Intermediate group woodwind lessons with Miss Chaya, Auten Road Band Director
• Intermediate brass lessons with Mrs. Ciacciarelli, HMS Band Director
• Percussion lessons and percussion ensemble (for percussionists only) with HHS Associate Director of Bands Mr. Nicholas Clipperton (week 1 and 2), and the President of the NJ Percussion Educators Association/Berkeley Heights Band Director Mr. Chris Colaneri (weeks 3 and 4).

For 6th graders going into 7th grade:

You will be assigned to the Intermediate Wind Ensemble, Orchestra or Percussion Ensemble. Group lessons will be with either the Intermediate Woodwind, Brass Class, Orchestra, or Percussion Class. You will be able to choose two other classes to enroll in from the list below:

• Jazz Ensemble/Improvisation with Mr. Angelone, Auten Road Band Director & Jazz Band Director

This class is for “wind players” only with at least 2 years of playing experience. No rhythm section.

• Strings Plus/Musical Style Exploration (for strings only) with Mrs. Petrucelli, Auten Road Orchestra Director
• Music Theory 1 with Mrs. Krick, Triangle Elementary School Music Teacher
• Music Theory 2-3 with Mrs. Petrucelli, Auten Road Orchestra Director
• Or, learn a secondary instrument!

Program enrollment will open on the Hillsborough Recreation Community Pass in March 2020.

Program tuition fees are paid on line. Due to contractual considerations, there is a no refund policy.

1. To select courses, all families must complete a google form which will be sent via email shortly after enrolling on Hillsborough Recreation Community Pass in March.
