Watch this clip of Alan Mandel reading the Gruffalo and listen to how he changes his voice to create each character. Might be some very useful tips for this weeks lessons!
Learning Intention: To turn your toy into a believable character.
Success Criteria: I can speak with a different voice.
I can tell a story about my day.
Find a teddy, action figure, or doll (or even a spoon from the cutlery drawer).
Give the toy a name
Decide how your toy will speak – what kind of voice will they have?
Can you make the voice very different from your voice?
Will it be loud and booming? Quiet and shy? Squeaky and silly?
Let the toy tell us about their day. For example: “Hello everyone! My name is Biggles and I love to play hide and seek outside.”
Send me a video of how your toy speaks and what they say via the class dojo portfolio.
If you have some spare time click on the Prep activity grid - things to do at home and complete one of the activities listed.
But most importantly have fun! I'll see you next week for our live meet!
Learning Intention:
To become your favourite character of the book and entice people to want to read it.
Success Criteria:
I can turn my voice into the character of my story.
I can read aloud my favourite page in my book.
I can persuade my audience to want to read the book.
Go to your bookshelf and find your favourite picture book. This is going to be your assessment piece so please check the rubric to ensure you have met all the criteria.
Pick a character from the book you could pretend to be.
Pick your favourite page from the book.
Pretend to be your chosen character and read that page out loud to us.
Still in character, tell us why this book is so great and why we should read it.
Get someone in your family to film you doing this and then upload it to your class dojo portfolio.
If you still want more click on the Year 1/2 activity grid - things to do at home and complete one of the activities listed.
