Learning Intention: To learn what is an Opera and how the sung word makes you feel.
Opera is a drama set to music. An opera is like a play in which everything is sung instead of spoken.
Watch this presentation from the Victorian Opera. Click on the symbols whilst watching to hear the music and singing.
Discuss with an adult -
What was the story about?
How did it make you feel when you heard the singing?
I enjoyed the singing because…
I didn’t enjoy the singing because...

Learning Intention: To engage the audience into believing you are an interior designer who decorates a room.
Interior Designer goes MAD!
This will be your assessment piece so please refer to the rubric to ensure you have met all the criteria.
Set up your recorder so it can take in as much of the room as possible.
Create a ridiculous, exaggerated and silly ‘Room Design Expert’ who will redesign the space.
What is their name? How do they walk?
How do they talk? Do they have a catch-phrase?
Walk around the room (in character, with silly walk) explain your new amazing design. Film it and then upload it to your Performing Arts workspace on Hapara.
Tip – be as ridiculous as you want. For example: Make everything in the room out of foods, add all the glitter, make it a jungle theme, or be a designer from the future with brand new ideas. Have fun with it!
Ensure you have ticked off everything in the rubrics before you film your piece.
