You want to run cross country/fall track? There are 9 steps:
This online form tell us you're interested in the team and gives us important background information.
Step 2: Medical form signed by your doctor (new athletes only)
Any doctor or nurse practioner can complete this form. You can also go to CityMD or similar urgent care center. There are free city health clinics that will do it also; contact Coach Henning. Valid for 12 months.
Please fill in all blanks and sign in all 13 spaces indicated. No blanks are allowed. Valid for 1 sports season.
Please review each item carefully. Ask Coach Henning if you have any questions before you and your parent signs. Valid for 12 months.
Submit a clear photo or pdf copy of each paper form to Coach Henning before the first practice you attend. Don't email forms or send to school.

This shared Google calendar has all team events, including precise locations and times. It can easily be added to your phone's calendar.
Step 8: Attend the cross country tryout practices on August 18 (or as late as Sept 7)
The tryout consists of three practices and a one-mile run. No specific time is expected for freshmen.
Step 9: Wait for the call from Coach Henning
Coach Henning will call all candidates at home after their tryout with his decision. If you make the team, you continue with the next practice. If you do not, you're encouraged to tryout for indoor (winter) track, outdoor (spring) track, and next fall's cross country team.
Fall cross country for non-freshmen
If you're new sophomore, junior, or senior applicant to fall cross country, follow the steps above. The only difference is that you have to meet a qualifying time.
You must run a one mile grass and terrain course in Van Cortlandt Park. You can make multiple attempts.
Freshmen - no qualifying time
Sophomore boys 6:45, Sophomore girls 7:45
Junior boys 6:30, Junior girls 7:30
Senior boys 6:15, Senior girls 7:15
If you do not make the qualifying time, you can continue to practice but may not race until you qualify.
Winter and spring Track & Field
All medical and permission forms must be submitted online two days before your tryout.
Tryouts are held after October 1 for Indoor Track which starts in mid-November.
Outdoor Track tryouts are generally around February 1.
You are allowed one tryout per season. Those not accepted are welcome to try the next season.
Once accepted, you need attend no further tryouts for track & field but your place on the team will be re-assessed each season. Attendance, attitude, and teamwork will be considered but not race performance.
The tryout consists of a vertical jump, standing broad jump, five bounds, and 30 meter and 60 meter sprints. Milers and throwers are assessed differently.
