Here are some frequently asked questions and their answers. If you have additional questions, please feel free to message HOA Administrator, Shannon Lawson at lawsons@hsd.k12.or.us, or HP Teacher, Margaret Kellar, kellarm@hsd.k12.or.us.
Question: Is there a list of approved curriculum?
Answer: Yes, but we do not publish it as it is always changing as full year curriculum and supplements are added. Please inquire with the HP Teacher, Margaret Kellar, if there is a specific curriculum you are interested in using.
Question: Are in-person and virtual activities required?
Answer: No, they are optional for HP families.
Question: Are there plans for this program to expand into high school?
Answer: We are actively working on ways that we can continue to support our homeschooling families through high school. A current option is for students in grades 7-12 to take core or elective online classes with HOA, either full time or part time. Stay tuned for updates!
Question: Can I volunteer or co-lead a club?
Answer: Absolutely! All volunteers must have an approved volunteer application on file with the Hillsboro School District (good for 2 years).
Question: Where will Speech/Special Education Services be held?
Answer: Speech and Special Education Services can be held in person at Groner Elementary School or virtual.
Question: Can Homeschool Parternship middle school students take online elective classes from Hillsboro Online Academy?
Answer: Yes! Please email our K-8 counselor, Ken Ollis, for more information.
Question: As a homeschooler enrolled with Homeschool Partnership, do I also need to be registered with our local ESD?
Answer: No. Your student is officially a Hillsboro School District student when enrolled with HP, so they should not also be registered with the ESD.
