Job Shadow:
A job shadow provides students with the opportunity to spend three to eight hours with one or more employees at a business. This is an observational experience but some hands on opportunities may be provided. Job shadows can be found independently or requested through the Hillsboro Chamber of Commerce.
The job shadow is conducted in person and students must provide their own transportation to and
from the worksite.
All students MUST complete a job shadow during their junior year.
Prerequisites:
1. Résumé with a clear objective indicating career interest (samples available in Counseling Center)
2. Opportunity request form (available in Counseling Center or online)
3. Genuine interest to learn about a particular occupation
Internship:
Internships are not required for the 0.5 Career credit but are required for Focused Programs.
We encourage students to take advantage of any internship experiences so that they may explore career options at the work-site. Internship placements can be found independently, through the Career/College Counselor (Jennifer Fields) or via the Focused Program teachers.
An internship consists of 30 to 40 hours with any one employer and you can request one from the Hillsboro Chamber of commerce here..
