Kindergarten Music Teacher: Mrs. Baudry - cobaudry@hsd.ca
Students can practice the following that they have been working on in class:
An introduction to learning how music is constructed and a foundation to help kids to read music.
Practice singing and using hand signs to show difference in pitch. Using the hands signs physically shows if the note is high, low and the distance or between the notes (step or skip).
How to make a paper Xylophone (young students will need parents help)
After you make it, you can use this to practice your skills with some of the tutorial videos on the Youtube channel "Messy Desk Concerts"
If you have older siblings, share this with them as well.
The students can practice dynamics by watching the following youtube clip.
Also, use Rossini's William Tell Overture and the students can show their parents the piano and forte in the music.
They can also make cards that say 1. Piano
2. Forte
The student can pick up the appropriate card to show what they are hearing.
This is a great song to keep steady beat to. The students can clap, snap, pat or do a pattern of any of those body percussion choices.
The kids could also keep beat on an actual instrument if you have one available or they can get pots and pans and use them as drums.
