The varying temperatures in New Glasgow helped with adjusting to different temperatures. She still needs time to adjust but not as much if she lived in only warm or only cold weather. Her time growing up in New Glasgow taught her the value of hard work and how it can get you far in life. This is especially true considering she lived through World War II. She was also only 10 when the Great Depression ended, so she went from Great Depression to World War II. When she was growing up she was impressed by the community and friendship of New Glasgow growing up. That community is something she's carried with her throughout her life. It's something she even finds nowadays in Australia.
