The east river split the town in two. Therefore New Glasgow had the west and east side. New Glasgow is close to the Atlantic Ocean. So close that there only about 10 minutes away. In fact, the East River of Pictou (the river that splits New Glasgow) is so close it spills out into the Atlantic ocean. They have farming fields and small hills, but it's pretty flat compared to other places. It has coves and beaches, hills and is slightly rocky too. It can get below 30 on cold winter days and an average of about 20 on hot summer days.
New Glasgow is in Pictou County. The town of New Glasgow has a huge bridge over the river so people can get across. New Glasgow has a weekly farmers market on Saturdays. They have the Carmicheal-Stewart House Museum. It's an old victorian-style house. The family that lived were prominent shipbuilders in New Glasgow. Lake Forbes is a man-made lake that supplies New Glasgow. This small town has over 9,000 people that live there. Pictou County has an annual lobster carnival which is a big part of the culture there. It's three days long and has entertainment, rides and lobster. It started in 1934 and has continued ever since.
