In third grade we learned about the Japanese artist Hokusai and his most famous woodblock print, “The Great Wave off Kanagawa.” With an introductory lesson on watercolors and warm and cool colors, third grade students had fun completing their own great wave paintings.

It’s clay week in the art room here at Alward! Students have been having a blast creating with clay! Clay is a wonderful form of art that challenges students' creative thinking and art skills. We are quickly filling up every shelf in the art room with gnomes, dragons, mugs, teacups, penguins, turtles and vases! I have been so impressed with the student's determination and imagination when working with clay this week.
