Highland Park ISD received a $5.8 million grant from the Moody Foundation to start a K-12 STEAM program that would span the entire district. A design team was formed to start structuring "The Moody Innovation Institute." Soon after, an executive director and 2 instructional coaches were hired to organize and implement the program. Michael Warren is one of the K-12 STEAM Instructional Coaches.
Organize and facilitate monthly meetings with STEAM teachers
Create monthly lesson challenges for cohort teachers to develop their understanding of STEAM
Meet with STEAM teachers to plan, organize, and reflect on STEAM lessons
Co-teach lessons with K-12 STEAM teachers
Observe and Coach teachers
Create lesson plan model for STEAM lesson and method of lesson retrieval
Create tools and resources for STEAM lessons and Student Centered Design (HP Design Thinking model)
Participate on the District Ed Services (Curriculum and Instruction) committee
Work with Assistant Superintendent of C&I on district graphics and resources related to STEAM
Present regularly at District Principal Meetings
Present STEAM updates at School Board Meetings
Present STEAM updates at Advisory Board Meetings
Present at school faculty meetings
Meet with principals monthly regarding STEAM teachers in their buildings
Generate a weekly newsletter for HP STEAM teachers
Member of the Moody Innovation Institute Design Team

Create and facilitate district STEAM professional learning sessions
