The Cornell Notes system is a note-taking system devised in the 1940s by Walter Pauk, an education professor at Cornell University. In our class the goal is to provide an easy method for students to accomplish the following goals using their notes from class.
review notes systematically.
practice higher level thinking skills.
think actively as they learn.
Below are two tools that can help students practice how to use the Cornell Notes method. The first is a template of the Cornell Notes, complete with instructions on how to use the CN in class. The instructions also include several strategies for students to effectively use their notes as a review tool for assessments. (Students should open the template & copy it to their Google Drive). The video, posted by a high school Biology teacher, also walks students through the Cornell Notes method, providing clear & detailed instructions on how to use this system.
