FDR 18- Wallkill 5
WALLKILL – Kory VanZandt and his Franklin D. Roosevelt High School baseball team are officially in uncharted territory.
After an 18-5 victory over Wallkill on Wednesday, the Presidents are off to a torrid 7-1 start, the best in VanZandt’s 10 years as coach.
“And we still haven’t put in a complete game yet,” he said. “On paper, we have the talent. I have 14 seniors. But it was always going to be about the team and their focus and attitude, and they’ve been great in keeping the energy up.”
Ron Vespe had three hits and three runs scored for FDR in the win. Conor Harris had a couple of hits and drove in four runs. Justin Patsey drove in five runs with his two hits. Dylan Merritt had two hits and two RBI. And Tyler Landolfi scored twice and had two hits.
