Baseball Team Rallies From Nine Runs Down For Win
FDR 16- Pine Bush 15
PINE BUSH – Bottom of the fifth inning, host Pine Bush High School had a 15-6 lead on visiting Roosevelt with two on, including a man on third, and two out.
So what was going through FDR coach Kory Van Zandt’s head?
“I was thinking, ‘Man, we’re just another big hit or a pass ball away from them ending the game (on the 10-run mercy rule),” the coach said.
That hit never came.
And the Presidents put together a rally for the ages.
FDR scored six runs in the top of the sixth inning and four more in the seventh to stun Pine Bush, 16-15, in its season opener.
