Mrs. Castner’s Grading Policy
If assignments are not turned in on DUE DATE, a zero/missing will be entered into Progress Book.
If the student has an EXCUSED absence, then one day for each excused day absent is permitted. After that time has lapsed, then the assignment will be considered “late.”
If the student has an UNEXCUSED absence, then the work is considered “late.” See guidelines in the Student handbook.
The student has up until the end of the current nine weeks to turn in LATE assignments for 1/2 credit or score earned if less than 1/2. *The ONLY acception to this is journals. You only have 3 days after due date to turn those in. One point deducted from points earned for each day late.
To receive credit the following steps must be taken.
If it is a paper copy of an assignment:
The paper copy must be given to the teacher without being reminded. (If the student can not print out the paper off google classroom, then write answers on a plain piece of paper.)
OR
Email the teacher a “photo” of the completed work, all sides; without being reminded. In the subject line of the email, state that it is missing work.
2. If it is an “electronic” assignment: (Edpuzzle, pHet, google form, etc.)
Take a screenshot of the COMPLETED work (google form w/ending score, Edpuzzle score, Edcite, etc.) and EMAIL the teacher with the screenshot attached. In the subject line of the email, state that it is missing work.
3. If it is an assignment that is posted in google classroom:
Follow step 2.a. above or email/share the google document with Mrs. Castner.
Do not assume the teacher will see completed assignments in google classroom, as I WILL NOT go back into google classroom after the due date to look.
Students will know ahead of time what will be graded as well as point values. Rubrics are used for some projects. Google classroom will have up to date information on all classwork and homework assignments. See “A Week at a Glance.”
Check progress book to keep track of grades. Set up alerts for notifications.
Scale is as follows: 90 to 100 A, 80 - 89 B, 70 - 79 C, 60 - 69 D, 59 and below F.
Journals will be worth UP TO 10 points each. *You only have three days to turn in late, after that time a 0 will be put into the gradebook. Quizzes vary from 12 points to 30 points.Tests can be from 31 points to 100 points.
Classwork/Labs, Participation, and/or Homework varies from 2 points to 50 points. This can include “electronic” work; such as EdPuzzle, Edcite, Google forms, etc.Extra Credit: See Extra Credit page/ website.
