LAIR OF BEHEMOTHS
A land covered end-to-end in an endless variety of beasts and monsters, Ikoria is a verifiable menagerie of deadly adaptation. With everything from storms of skysharks to lands teeming with nightmares, there is little on Ikoria that isn’t deadly. Similar to Innistrad, Ikoria only has one sapient race: humans. Mostly surviving in massive sanctuaries and bastions aimed at maintaining a defense against the endless behemoths at their door, there are still a few humans who live outside of them. The majority of these are the hunters who bring the fight to the mutating beasts of Ikoria and use massive weapons to slay them before they become a threat to humanity. The rest instead choose to becoming bonded to creatures in the wild, rather than fight them. These so-called ‘Bonders’ use a mystical connection called ‘eludha’ to tie their spirit with that of a monster, allowing them to fight as one, but at the cost of being ostracized from human society and being seen as traitors to their own kind.
Ikoria has five main types of geographical regions, known as ‘Triomes’. Each has a unique set of flora and fauna, and primarily encompasses three of the five types of mana. This, in turn, caused a divergent evolution in the life across Ikoria, leading to the five predominant types of monsters: Nightmares, Beasts, Dinosaurs, Cats, and Elementals. Found within all five triomes are massive crystal structures that influence the growth and mutation of life on Ikoria.
Part of the Beginner Decks focused on getting creatures into the graveyard fast, and then bringing them back through Offsprings Revenge.
Part of the Favourites Decks focusing on cycling a lot of cards into the graveyward, and doing big damage through Zenith Flare.
Part of the For Glory Commander Decks focused on going wide with lots of human creatures, and making them big with the commander. Best paired with other Human decks and creature focused decks.
