Introduction
This deck is part of the Pauper Decks, which are made from only common cards. The great thing about Pauper is the majority of the cards are cheap to buy, and are still strong as there are quite a lot of good common cards over Magic's history.
Key Strategy
Red Deck Wins is a classic, aggressive strategy designed to deal as much damage as quickly as possible, often before the opponent has a chance to stabilize. The deck is packed with low-cost burn spells and aggressive creatures that chip away at the opponent's life total, aiming to end the game in just a few short turns.
Monastery Swiftspear: This is one of the key creatures in the deck, capable of dealing large amounts of damage early on. Thanks to its Prowess ability, every noncreature spell you cast makes it stronger, making it a perfect fit for this spell-heavy strategy.
Kuldotha Rebirth + Experimental Synthesizer: This combination is a core synergy in the deck. Kuldotha Rebirth sacrifices an artifact to create three 1/1 Goblin tokens, which pairs excellently with Experimental Synthesizer. When Synthesizer leaves the battlefield, it exiles the top card of your library, giving you access to an extra card. This provides a steady flow of creatures while maintaining card advantage.
Lightning Bolt and Chain Lightning: These are your primary burn spells, dealing 3 damage for just one mana. They are versatile tools, effective for either controlling the board or going directly to the face, depending on the situation.
Galvanic Blast: With Metalcraft easily achievable thanks to the artifact-heavy nature of the deck, Galvanic Blast often deals 4 damage for just one mana. This is a significant amount of burn for a low cost, making it one of the deck’s most potent spells.
Fireblast: This spell serves as a game-finishing tool. Sacrificing two Mountains to cast it for free allows you to deal the final 4 points of damage when your opponent least expects it. It's a great way to close out games when your opponent might think they've stabilized.
Voldaren Epicure: This card is an efficient one-drop that deals damage upon entering the battlefield and provides a Blood token, which can be useful for drawing extra cards or enabling Kuldotha Rebirth. It adds consistency to the deck while providing early damage.
Reckless Impulse: This card is vital for maintaining your hand and ensuring you don’t run out of steam. It exiles the top two cards of your library, allowing you to play them until the end of your next turn. This means you can keep up the pressure, even after your initial wave of aggression.
Dwarven Forge-Chanter: A strong defensive and offensive tool, Dwarven Forge-Chanter can block effectively against early aggression with its high toughness and Ward ability. Its Prowess ability also allows it to turn into a significant threat when you're casting multiple spells in a turn.
Red Deck Wins aims to start fast and never let up. Your early game is all about deploying creatures like Monastery Swiftspear and Voldaren Epicure to start dealing damage right away. Meanwhile, burn spells like Lightning Bolt and Chain Lightning help you control the board or go straight to the face, depending on the situation.
Kuldotha Rebirth and Experimental Synthesizer provide you with an army of Goblins and extra cards to keep up the pressure. This synergy is key to maintaining a board presence while still advancing your game plan.
In the midgame, you'll use Reckless Impulse and Galvanic Blast to keep up the pressure. Galvanic Blast is particularly effective if you have three or more artifacts on the battlefield, as it can deal 4 damage, often enough to remove a blocker or finish off your opponent.
Late game, Fireblast serves as a powerful finisher, allowing you to sacrifice your Mountains to deliver the final blow. Even if your opponent manages to stabilize, this spell can often end the game outright.
When considering a mulligan, prioritize a hand with early creatures like Monastery Swiftspear or Voldaren Epicure, along with a couple of burn spells like Lightning Bolt or Chain Lightning. You want to ensure you can start applying pressure right away. Avoid keeping hands that are too slow or lack a clear early game plan, as this deck thrives on speed and aggression.
Red Deck Wins is all about speed, aggression, and overwhelming your opponent before they can set up their defenses. With a mix of efficient creatures, powerful burn spells, and synergistic artifacts, this deck can quickly burn through your opponent's life total. Whether you’re deploying a horde of Goblins, pumping up a Monastery Swiftspear, or finishing off your opponent with a well-timed Fireblast, this deck offers a fast and furious path to victory.
