Sessions can take up to 2 hours, however I’ve had sessions as brief as 18 minutes to fully complete! It just depends on how your brain is wired, and the complexity of the stuckness.
Really sticky issues can require 2 sessions, but this is with less than 10% of clients, and and on extremally challenging complex issues. If this is probable, I'll let you know ahead of time. Typically a single session is all that’s required.
You are welcome to record it, and you have my permission to share it with others. Most people never listen to their recordings,
The first 15 minutes
I’ll ask you about what you’d like and where you’re stuck. Our whole session will be conversational. I’m strong in rapport, and I listen with my entire body. You will feel heard and understood!
After 15 minutes, we’ll pause, and discuss if we are a good match. If not, we’ll end the session, and go our separate ways, and there will be no charge.
If we are compatible, I’ll take payment, and we’ll continue.
We'll do an easy one first, this usually runs 30 minutes.
I like to work on something easy to start with, before focusing on the main stuck point. A minor annoyance like “I can never remember where I put my car keys”. This is to give you a preview of what to expect when we get into the main stuck point.
I’ll continue our session by asking clarifying questions, and get some specifics, I’ll keep you away from reliving any trauma. Reliving old trauma doesn’t help at all, and is an indicator of a poor healer. Mostly there are no tears involved with any of this.
I need to understand how your amygdala is structuring the problem and I do this with questions about what you experience. You have space in the conversation to share anything you deem valuable, and decline to answer anything uncomfortable. I’ll find another way for me to get that piece that isn’t comfortable for you.
This is very important: You have my permission to interrupt at any point. I love working with people who are curious, so ask-away! We're working together on this, and interrupting the session flow won't mess anything up! If we're running short on time. I'll let you know.
Once I understand how your amygdala has the problem structured, I like to lay it out for you, and see if what I’m thinking aligns with your experience. I'll update my perspective with any new information you provide me. Once I get a strong “YES! That’s it” from you. We’ll figure out what experience you’d like to have instead when these situations occur in the future. Then we'll begin the updating process.
There is an unusual brief "integration experience" in the middle of the actual updating. Some describe this as a falling or shedding weight feeling, that feeling is unusual, but not frightening. This is normal, and lasts less than 15 seconds, it's a sign that the update is occurring.
After the update, I’ll ask you to imagine yourself in the original situation, and see if you’re still stuck. Occasionally there can be a few blocks in a row that all need to get cleared up. Those are pretty quick.
Next we'll focus on your main stuck area,
We'll repeat the above processes on your main issue.
Once we’ve tested it, and we know the block is gone, there is often a big endorphin rush that people experience. This is a really wonderful experience, and can last a few hours!
If we still have time and you're not too zoned out, we can work on getting you unstuck in other areas.
All this mental work consumes a ton of blood sugar. Frequently people will then take a nap after we end the session, and after that, they are good from here forward!
After a couple of days, it’s very common for amnesia to set in, and you only faintly remember ever being stuck, and you may not be able to clearly recall our session. All this is normal. Your brain doesn’t need to remember being stuck, it’s interested in moving forward! Pretty much nobody ever reviews the session recordings they make.
Please note: I like to follow up a week later, so we'll set up a quick 10 minute phone appointment. By this point most people have "moved in" to their new normal, and have moved on with their life.
Kindly answer that call, I care, and want to know how you're doing! This is important to me.
