WELCOME FOURTH GRADERS!
WELCOME FOURTH GRADERS!
I'm so happy that you're here!
Welcome to fourth grade technology class at Memorial. Students will be learning technology on a brand new iPad with a special new case including a track pad.
We focus a lot on responsibility in fourth grade. Make sure to always plug your iPad in when you get home from school, and remember to bring it to school every day. We use our iPads for school related things only, so make sure you are using this device as a learning tool.
In technology class, we will learn how to customize our iPads so they work best for us. Last year the students learned a lot about typing more quickly and accurately, and this year we will continue to grow our typing skills. We will learn about the importance of being a good digital citizen, taking our knowledge of coding to the next level, and working with some new robots.
Fourth graders will also be entering a schoolwide Steam Tank competition this year, on a special project we are working on in class. Students are brainstorming creative solutions to real-world problems and entering their inventions in a competition to possibly compete in a statewide challenge! The website can be accessed here if you are interested, and more information will be sent home as the year goes on.
We are going to have another great year together in technology at Memorial School!
Knowledge Expo
Typing/WPM
This year, we will be using different programs to learn and practice our typing skills.
WPM= Words Per Minute
Our goal as fourth graders is to reach at least 20 WPM on a typing test. That's not the only goal, though! We will set individual goals to try and get our own Personal Best. What's your typing goal?
I will be checking your WPM once per month and updating the leaderboards outside my classroom. Make sure you are practicing on LESSONS to improve your WPM!
Once you reach 30 WPM, you are allowed to play games during typing time! :)
