About this program:
This program has two parts: an English support class and the Ophthalmic Technician training.
The Vision Assistant English Support class is 77 hours long, plus optional tutoring and career counseling as needed. This class helps you develop good study skills, and introduces you to field specific vocabulary. You will get a lot of practice speaking and pronouncing the difficult medical vocabulary necessary for your ophthalmic technician training.
The Ophthalmic Technician Training is 140 hours long (100 hours of theory and 40 hours of clinical rotation). This class will help you gain the necessary theoretical and practical skills to work as an ophthalmic technician assistant. This course includes an online component, mandatory skills/lab sessions, and 40-hour clinical rotation. Upon completion of this training you will be able to get an entry level position in a number of different eye care facilities. Cost: $1375 (includes the cost of the course and the clinical rotation). Additional expenses include a criminal background check, required immunizations, and scrubs. Financial aid is available for eligible students. We can also help you see if you qualify for a tuition voucher from the Columbia Workforce Center. You may also self-pay for the course if you don't have financial need.
If you need with financial assistance, please let us know, and turn in your application as soon as possible.
