About this program:
This program has three parts: an English for Childcare course and the co-enrolled Child Growth & Development course, and Preschool Curriculum and Activities 45 hours.
English for Childcare is a 42-hour English language class that is designed to support students taking Child Growth & Development training. English for Childcare helps you with study skills, speaking, vocabulary and other skills you need to be successful in your Child Growth and Development training. It also offers optional tutoring and career counseling.
Tuition: free (+ $50 materials fee).
The Child Growth & Development 45 hour course is part of the MSDE requirement for child care teachers and directors. You will gain a broad overview of major concepts, theories and research related to the social, emotional, cognitive, and physical development of the child from birth through age 12. This course and a 45-hour course in age-appropriate curriculum (preschool, infant-toddler, or school-age) are required to complete the 90-hour certification for child care. You must successfully complete all course requirements to receive a certificate.
The Preschool Curriculum and Activities course is part of the MSDE requirement for child care teachers and directors. Basic concepts of curriculum planning and implementation for children three to five years old are introduced. Topics include: teaching strategies, environment design, and implementation of best practices in early childhood education. You must successfully complete all course requirements to receive a certificate.
Additional required courses are included as well, included Communication, Basic Health and Safety, etc.
