Meet the Counselors
Meet the Counselors
For those of you who are new to Robinson, "Welcome to your new school!" If you are returning to Robinson, "Welcome back!" I am Ms. Small, the school counselor for those who do not know me. This is my second year at Robinson and my ninth year as a school counselor. I love Robinson Elementary. I also love my job and the opportunities to work with students, families, and teachers daily.
My background for over 19 years has been rooted in and surrounded by education. I am a graduate of Texas Southern University, where I obtained a Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood and Family Development. I hold a Master's degree in School Counseling from Prairie View A&M and a Master's in Curriculum and Instruction from Grand Canyon University. I am licensed with the state of Texas as a Licensed Professional Counselor.
As part of the school counseling program, I will see your student's class twice a month during their Elective time to teach about topics such as social skills, conflict resolution, handling bullies, healthy lifestyles, personal safety, and study skills. Each grade level is introduced to the topics appropriate to their developmental needs. There will also be an opportunity for some small groups for behavior and a "lunch bunch" for meeting new students or addressing short-term student issues.
If you have specific concerns about your child that may impact their school success, please call to schedule an appointment. I am here daily from 7:45 a.m. to 4:15 p.m. and can be reached at (713) 450-7108. I do not answer the phone when I am with a student or in classrooms, so please leave a voicemail. You may also scan the QR code at the bottom of the page to submit a Student Assistance Form (SAF), and I will contact you regarding your concerns. I am excited about the new school year and all of the possibilities that lie ahead. Please let me know if there is anything I can do to help.
