Conventions of Composition Rule 22

Rule: Format your essay as your teacher has directed. Unless instructed otherwise by your teacher, follow these parameters:

• Use an 11- or 12-point legible font,

• Double space, 

• Left justify, 

• Retain one-inch margins, 

• Include your name, the due date, and the course at the top of the first page, 

• Indent the first line in each new paragraph; do not create an extra blank line between paragraphs,

• Avoid extra gaps in spacing between words or after sentences, but do leave one space after the punctuation mark that ends each sentence,

• Do not include the prompt in your final/submitted draft.
