Our Learning Resources Center (LRC) is located at the front of the school, offering a bright and welcoming view of the main courtyard.
The LRC is open from 8am to 5pm every school day and provides a supportive space for students to study, read, and complete homework.
A dedicated study area with computers is available exclusively for Year 11 students, ensuring they have a quiet space to focus on their exams and coursework. Library lessons are held once a fortnight for Key Stage 3 students, helping to develop their research and reading skills.
The LRC is available to all students during the following times:
Before school: 8:00-8.35am
Break: 10:40-10:55am
Lunch: 12:40-1:25pm
After school: 3:10-5:00pm
The LRC Catalogue houses a collection of approximately 12,000 books, including fiction, non-fiction, graphic novels, and manga. Fiction titles are organized by genre and then alphabetically by the author's last name, while non-fiction books are arranged according to the Dewey Decimal System. We also offer Quick Reads, which are sorted by Accelerated Reader levels to help students find books at the right difficulty and Dyslexia-friendly books.
Borrowing limits vary by year group:
Years 7 and 8 can borrow up to two books for two weeks
Years 9 to 11 can borrow up to three books for two weeks
Our library offers 52 PCs for students to use for homework and study purposes.
Each PC is equipped with internet access and the full Microsoft Office Suite, as well as 2D design software and other subject-specific programs to support their studies.
iPads are available for short-term loans to EAL (English as an Additional Language) students, and headphones can also be borrowed for limited periods.
In the LRC, students can print, photocopy, and purchase small amounts of stationery. All students across the school have access to the Sora ebook platform, which offers approximately 5,700 ebooks, 850 audiobooks, and 620 magazines for digital borrowing. Additionally, all Key Stage 3 students can benefit from the Accelerated Reader program.
