Before we start a group session we will always from a circle. We check that our knees align. Children in the group should be able to see each person's face. No one child should be in a position that is turned away from another.
Include the person who is speaking to you by making sure that both shoulders are facing towards them.
Think about where you are looking. Is it possible to see each others eyes from where you are sitting?
What objects might share our attention? For example, these could be an A3 brainstorm plan you are working on together, or a shared device, the TV, or a novel study.
We have to put aside the current topics, ideas and conversations that have been happening prior in order to fully focus our attention on the person who is speaking.
Check that you have completed or safely stored the ideas you had been working on previously and are ready to give your new topic your full attention.
Start to make links to ideas, experiences and recent topics that you know apply to what is about to be discussed. This will help you to respond on topic.
