My name is Miss Abernethy, and I am your Wānanga Learning Advisor (form teacher) this year :)
I will have you for 5 hours a week + form times, in M9.
We will be doing a whole range of stuff including wellbeing, relationships, goals, career pathways, cultural responsiveness, identity, and personalised passion projects.
AyM is a mixture of year 10 and year 11 students, all the year 11 's have been in Ay previous years, and I am super lucky to have already taught the year 10's in Hurumanu last year.
Ay is my cypher, so email ay@hornby.school.nz to contact me.
The M which is part of our name is for our Kāhui, Mōhua.
Mōhua is the first of the Kāhui, nearest the courts/gym. Each of the Kāhui are named after birds, fitting with the whakataukī "Mā te huruhuru ka rere te manu" these are the buildings in which you can get the skills to help you for life after school. Mōhua is also known as the yellowhead, a small forest bird that is native to New Zealand. This bird is what give us our Kāhui colour, yellow.
