Across our two nursery settings staff provide a stimulating, supportive environment for children and the nursery has the advantage of having access to the wonderful, wider school grounds, allowing all children the opportunity to discover and explore the world around them in a unique and richly-resourced settings.
The Nest (from 2 years old)
The Nest, provides care and education for children from age 2 years. This purpose-built, oak structured building is wonderfully light and airy and has been designed with our very youngest learners in mind. The development focus within the Nest are the Early Years Prime Areas, 'Communication and Listening', 'Personal, Social and Emotional development' and 'Physical development'. Play resources in the room have been chosen specifically to develop these areas and enable children to discover independently within their play, alongside a provision of structured activities, which staff ensure are fun and engaging. The outside environment is fully enclosed and benefits from resources such as a tunnel, grass mound, large digging area, mud kitchen and balance beams and children have access to this area daily, regardless of the weather.
Team Wild (3-4 year olds)
Team Wild is where our 3 and 4 year olds develop their learning and skills in a slightly more challenging, highly stimulating outdoor environment.
The gorgeous Wild environment is supplemented by two additional classroom spaces and a wider area of hard standing to explore bikes, climbing walls etc. Each zone across The Wild setting is carefully planned to meet the needs of the whole child and prepare them for school readiness in September.
The focus remains on developing the prime areas, but with specific emphasis on developing children's social skills and forming friendships and their communication and listening skills in preparation for starting school. The curriculum in Team Wild is still play based but staff offer more opportunities for adult-led activities. In Team Wild we take advantage of this wonderful garden no matter the weather, with children donning wellies and waterproofs to explore, bug hunt and puddle jump! Discovering the excitements of the wildlife garden, from tadpoles and flowers to bird species, there is an array of wonder at Team Wild.
The benefits of outdoor education are widely published and children develop personal, social and emotional skills during their time in Team Wild which enables them to take their new-found confidence into school and into many other areas of their lives. Children are able to problem solve and have additional opportunities to be creative and develop their imaginations. In Team Wild we also have the additional benefit of two further classroom spaces where children have the opportunity to develop additional skills to support their transition to Foundation Stage.
During sessions at each of our settings, the children are able to access the 'snack cafe' which is operated by a member of staff. The children are able to choose themselves a healthy snack and then sit around the snack table, giving children the perfect opportunity to talk to others in a small group
