FCCLA stands for Family, Career, and Community Leaders of America. It is a national Career and Technical Student Organization for students in Family and Consumer Sciences education. FCCLA offers intra-curricular resources and opportunities for students to pursue careers that support families.
In the beginning of the year, we have an interest meeting for anyone from 8th through 12th grade. In the meeting, we have the president and vice-President talk about what FCCLA and what we do.
"Family and Consumer Sciences uses critical and creative thinking skills to strengthen their problem-solving skills through a variety of courses including parenting and human development, family studies, nutrition and foods, textiles and apparel production, and housing and design."- University of Arkansas.
Our talk to the 7th and 8th graders was a slideshow about what FCCLA is all about. We give them information and prove that it is not just an organization but a family.
After our talk to the 7th and 8th graders, we allow any student interested to become our younger siblings. We then take them on trips and let them experience FCCLA.

Horatio FCCLA has a Facebook page and an Instagram. We post members' accomplishments and our events.
Once a month, we have a specific meeting where we vote for a member who has exceeded our expectations.
In the morning announcements, we congratulate any accomplishment a student has done, whether it is big or small.
This year, our FCCLA chapter has experienced amazing growth! We started the school year with just 17 members and have grown to 78 strong, passionate leaders. Through active recruitment, engaging activities, and a welcoming environment, we’ve built a chapter that represents the power of teamwork and leadership. Our growth reflects our chapter’s commitment to making a difference in our school, homes, and community.
