MSU Quad State

Murray State Jr. High Honor band clinic to be held on Monday, November 24th.

Here are some rough details-

Travel by school bus, leave early AM

Rehearse until lunch

Lunch on their own, bring $

Rehearse after lunch, dinner, bring $

Concert at 7:00pm- parent(s) will have to attend.  Students will ride home with parents. We are sending the bus home after AM dropoff.

Cost- $35.00 if selected ($30.00 to MSU includes tee shirt, $5.00 for Hopkins Co Bus).  

No cost if the student is not selected. 

Selection is random and based on instrument need to fill the four performing bands.

I can not guarantee a student will be selected.

IF selected, you have to submit an audition, which includes concert F and Ab scale, and a portion of sheet music “Fireball.”

state your name, instrument, and JMMS

1) play your concert F and concert Ab major scales

2) play section of “Fireball.”

stop recording, and send recording to alan.emerson@hopkins.kyschools.us (or drop recordings here : https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/162XBctVSRm5XhsF8d6oy4We8BJt7xOPE?usp=sharing) no later than Fri Oct 3rd at 11:50pm

use smartmusic to study “Fireball!.”: “Fireball! Beck.”

use smartmusic to study concert F and concert Ab major scales

-F Concert Scale & Ab Concert Scale - multiple octaves if possible, but however they can play them best. No whole notes please!

-Excerpts in the folder HERE. Each pdf is labeled by instrument, with marked cuts. 

Students should include both the audition excerpt AND the SCALE in the same audio link. Confirm that all links work, and all permissions are unlocked. Unaccessible videos will be disqualified from the honor band process.
