Environmental science students made outdoor items to improve/interact with the natural environment.
One student wanted to buy a birdfeeder from the store, assemble it and hang it up. Instead, she learned to make her own out of a cedar fence plank. She started with some basic math to determine her cut list.
She measured, marked and cut the pieces according to her design and assembled the frame with wood glue and brad nails.
She used clamps and wood glue to assemble the bottom piece, then planed them to an even size. She was then able to attach the bottom to the sides and put some eye-hooks into the corners. She was then able to hang the feeder in the court yard.
