Team Covenant
All we do serves the worship of God and the making of disciples of Jesus Christ who in turn grow as Jesus followers and effective disciple makers.
The covenant is the practical expression of the values of Hope Valley Church to which we are fully committed to living and modelling.
Heart for God’s Mission
We are confident in God’s ability to transform people. Our mandate is to help people take their next steps in their life transforming journey to discover faith in Christ and to follow him. Each of us has a next step to take and we commit to modelling and taking that next step. We honour the responsibilities of leadership and commit to growing as leaders and to maintaining the standards and expectations that leadership entails.
Open to God’s Word
We believe the Bible is the unique testimony of humankind’s encounter with God, in which we hear God speak, and by which our faith and obedience are nourished and regulated. We commit to grow in Biblical knowledge and understanding through study, engaging in a Life Group and through exercising spiritual disciplines such as regular prayer.
Practical Service
We believe the church by its very nature is called into mission in which every Christian is called to participate. The mission includes the call to personal faith, ministry of healing, deeds of kindness and addressing injustice – expressed locally and globally. We commit to helping people engage effectively in service of Christ according to their spiritual gifts, passion, natural abilities, personality, experience, and leadership capacity. We particularly embrace the principle of team- based service.
Excellent Relationships
We believe that the Spirit kindles within each believer, and Christian community, qualities that build character and reflect the very presence of God and release the power of God – love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. While none of us are perfect or blameless, we actively commit to pursue holiness and purity before Christ, to confess our brokenness to him, and to seek reconciliation with God and people. We commit to refrain from destructive patterns such as pride, greed, lust, hatred, gossip, and unwholesome language. While we may engage in robust sharing of ideas within respectful dialogue, we will not stir up dissension and disharmony and we will choose unity over personal preference. We commit to praying for each other and for our leaders.

A mentor is most simply; a role model, coach, sounding board, voice of reason, wise counsellor, trusted resource and genuine friend.
She/he could be a family member, a family friend or someone identified and trusted by the HVC leadership. They will be a person known and trusted by you and your family.
