Hope Valley HEAT was established in August 2020 as a ministry of Hope Valley Church. What began as a simple step of faith has grown into a thriving basketball community where players and families can belong, grow, and connect. Guided by the mission and values of Hope Valley Church, we believe basketball is more than a game - it's an opportunity to build character, create community, and share the love of Jesus.
As a club, we value Humility, Encouragement, Authenticity, and Trust, creating a culture where players play, coaches coach, and supporters support. We also encourage every player to demonstrate Hustle, Engagement, Attitude, and Team, both on and off the court.
At HEAT, basketball is just the beginning.
We believe that basketball is just the beginning:
of building strong relationships and communities.
in growing together and working in teams.
in learning new and developing skills.
in competitive fair play that is respectful of the competition, referees,
opposition and supporters.
in encountering faith. Hope Valley HEAT is distinctly Christian in its origins and beliefs. To learn more about our core beliefs as a church, we invite you to check out the video below:
Club Values
As a Club we represent:
Humility - Humility is about the way we win, the way we lose and how we show respect. The confidence we have will be grounded in this value. We understand that we will be observed by others and we want this quality to be evident in all we do.
Encouragement - This value builds morale and culture. It is the bed on which correction, discipline and attitude lie.
Authentic - We will be genuine and honest while always looking to support and understand.
Trust - Hope Valley HEAT is a volunteer led Club. Trust is most easily built and established between volunteers, coaches, players, team managers and supporters who uphold the Club values.
Player Values
As Players we represent:
Hustle - We expect players to be prepared to train and play with a high level of effort.
Engaged - Players are expected to listen to their coach, show respect and be willing to learn. Unacceptable behaviour at training or on game day will result in consequences such as push-ups, extra drills, sitting out or being substituted. Parents will be contacted where necessary.
Attitude - Players are to bring a positive attitude to all Hope Valley Heat training, games and events.
Team - Basketball is a team sport, and developing teamwork is essential both for playing well and for building important life skills. Please note that during finals, the coach may choose to prioritise coaching to win, which may result in reduced playing time for some players.
