WEEK 1 JUMP ROPE
Watch the video and have a go! See if you can practice for 10-20minutes a day. You will be amazed at the results if you persevere. Persevere means to keep trying, keep practicing and don't give up even when it is tricky. See below for the steps to success.
Get organised and clear your space so you don't knock anything with your rope. If possible go to an outside location
Make sure you have sneakers on and a water bottle
Put some music on
Set a timer for 10-20minutes
GO!!

From young children to professional athletes skipping is an activity that many enjoy!!
Tasks 1-4 are designed to help build jumping strength and also for our PreSchool-Year 1 students.
Task 1 - Balance
How long can you balance on one foot?
What helps us balance?
Stork balance
Ballerina balance (on tip toes together and then try single leg)
Stork walk (Stork balance, take a step forward x 5)
Hop Stop (Hop on one leg and stop for the count of 3 then swap)
Task 2 - Jumping
10 Star jumps
10 jumps
What do our knees look like when we land?
What happens if our feet are too close together?
What sports require jumping?
10 Ski Jumps (side to side )
10 Roo Jumps (forwards and back)
10 High jumps - How high can you reach?
10 Tuck jumps
10 Rocket jumps (Tap the floor and spring to the sky)
10 Hurdle Jumps (Using a book or item about 10-15cm high jump over forwards and sideways)
ACTIVITY - Island Jumping
Can you create a small course of islands in your house? Could be cushions or tiles. Try and Jump to 5 different islands.
Task 3 - Hopping
Try hopping on your left and then your right foot.
Double hop (Two hops right foot, two on the left)
Triple hop (Three on the right and three on the left)
Zig zag hop (Hop in a zig zag pattern for 2-3m)
High Knee hopping
Skipping-Step, hop, step, hop
Hold onto something if this is too hard!!
Task 4 - Jump Routine
Jumping Routine to music
10 jumps
10 ski jumps
10 roo Jumps
30 second rest
5 tuck jumps
5 rocket jumps
5 hurdle jumps
30 seconds rest
REPEAT
5 Left hops
5 right hops
10 L/R hops
30 second rest
Single hop
Double hop
Tripple hop
30 seconds rest
REPEAT
ACTIVITY - Set up and play a game of hopscotch
Use chalk or a whiteboard marker to create a hop scotch that looks a little like this.
Once you have had a go, challenge a friend or family member to a game!
