I'm Dorothy Cordero, and I've spent over 20 years immersed in the world of cosmetology—beginning as a salon stylist, color specialist, spa manager, salon owner, and barbering professional, and now proudly serving as an educator and State Board Examiner. I teach in a four-year accredited cosmetology program at Hopatcong High School, guiding students in grades 9–12 as they transform their creativity into meaningful, rewarding careers.
My philosophy is simple: when you do what you love, it becomes a career—not just a job. That belief shapes everything I bring to the classroom. I combine hands-on training in haircutting, coloring, chemical services, skincare, and barbering with essential business skills like client consultation, salon management, and professional ethics.
Whether your goal is to own a salon, spa, or barbershop; become a master colorist or makeup artist; or thrive in the broader beauty and wellness industry, I’m here to help you build the skills, confidence, and state board preparation you need to succeed.
As a State Board Examiner, I bring first-hand knowledge of licensing standards directly into the classroom. My students consistently pass their licensure exams at rates above 90%, and many have gone on to launch their own businesses or pursue advanced education. It’s my greatest joy to mentor the next generation of beauty professionals, share real-world insights, and celebrate their success in this vibrant industry.
Let’s pursue what we love—together.
