Interested in becoming an officer?
Officer Candidate Information:
Officer applications are due after State Career Development Conference and elections will be held in March or April. Turn in the officer application to Mrs. Jane Bruce or email it to her and schedule an officer interview. The following steps must be completed to be considered as an officer:
Fill out the Officer Application Google Doc.
Get three teacher recommendations on this form.
Schedule an interview with Mrs. Bruce and Mr. Wood ASAP before the application is due. The sooner the better!
Add your slide to the candidate slide presentation. Email Mrs. Bruce (jbruce@hoover.k12.al.us) for access to the presentation. See the Officer Election Information Presentation in step 1 for more information.

2025-2026 DECA Officers
Student Membership
Membership in DECA is strongly encouraged if you are a member of a business course. This is the students' professional organization, and it gives students the opportunity to develop their leadership skills, participate in community service activities, and compete in a variety of business and IT-related events.

Dues: $35 per year (includes a t-shirt)
The DECA application is online and must be completed for membership.

Hannah Hickman finished out her 3rd year as a Alabama DECA State Officer.
Dallas Lewis was awarded to the top-scoring student across both preliminary and final rounds, earning the highest combined test, written, and presentation scores in an internationally judged event evaluated by professionals using a standardized scoring model. Placed 1st internationally out of 194 teams who advanced as champions of their state, provincial, and national associations. Earned distinction for marketing exam performance. Received a $6,000 prize from Adobe Inc. as event sponsor.
