Fraction: Part of a whole.
Improper Fraction: More than a whole. You can see this because the numerator is larger than the denominator.
Mixed Number: A whole number and a fraction.
Equivalent Fractions: Different fractions that have the same value but different sized parts.
Simplest Form: A fraction that has the least parts possible.
Numerator: The top number on a fraction. The parts we are talking about (shaded, not shaded, taken, left, etc.)
Denominator: The bottom number on a fraction. It tells us how many parts are in a whole. Think of it like the label to the number we are talking about. 3 fourths = 3/4 There are four parts in one whole.
