Expanded Form

To write a number in expanded form you need to know what place value each digit is in. That will help you determine the value of each digit. When you know the value of each digit you and expand the number!

Word Form: A number written in word form is just a number written with words. The key skill you need to do this is the ability to read a number properly. If you can read a number you can use words to write it.

Example: 5.76 --> five and seventy-six hundredths.

Expanded Form with Multiplication breaks apart the value of each digit and multiplies that digit by the unit of the place value it is in.
