Help connect families to needed resources
Provide brief, short term counseling for students and families based on school support team referral
Work with the whole family unit across multiple school buildings when appropriate
Meet with families in an area that is confidential and comfortable to the family (ie. school, home, public library etc.) including outside of school hours when appropriate
Attend meetings with families as an advocate - both within the Homer School District and as appropriate throughout the community (Suspension hearings, medical appts, SPOA meetings, etc.)
Encourage, foster and problem solve towards achieving healthy school attendance
Create opportunities for educational and engaging workshops and other supportive enrichment activities for parents and families!
Our liaisons work to support students through a holistic approach with the entire family system. While each liaison is assigned to a different school building, they function as a team and will work with whole family units across buildings when appropriate. Our liaison team collaborates with one another utilizing all of their individual backgrounds and experiences to provide Homer families with the best, most comprehensive service possible.
Amanda has been working with families and individuals in a variety of capacities for the past fifteen years. Her primary experience has been in non-profit organizations, supporting individuals with developmental disabilities and their families to access services in their homes and community. Amanda recently completed her MSW at Binghamton University. She is a proud Homer graduate and has two children who attend school in the district.

Lisa has spent over 20 years working with students and families in the public school system. She has extensive experience supporting those who may be in crisis and need additional services beyond the classroom level. Lisa received her Master's Degree from Syracuse University and resides in Homer with her son who also attends the district.

Susan has over 20 years experience working with students and families in various settings including schools, counseling centers, hospice, and the Cortland Youth Bureau. Susan has a Master’s in Social Work from Syracuse University and a Bachelor’s in Secondary English Education from Buffalo State College. Susan is a Homer alum and has a daughter who is a recent grad of the district.

Alicia received her Master's in Social Work from Syracuse University and a Bachelor’s in Psychology from SUNY Cortland. Alicia is a Licensed Clinical Socal Worker with over 11 years of experience providing clinical mental health services within higher education and more recently as a local private practitioner.
