Dear Parents,
As part of our Term 3 curriculum under the Prime Math Programme, we are excited to dive into the book Cupcakes and Eggs. This engaging story will serve as a foundation for a series of math activities designed to enhance your child's skills in sorting, counting, and comparing (statistics).
Here’s what we’ll be focusing on this term:
Sorting and Counting:
Cupcakes: Students will sort cupcakes by color and flavor (chocolate, strawberry, and vanilla). They will then count the number of cupcakes in each group, reinforcing their understanding of grouping and quantity.
Arrangements: We will practice counting with 8 cupcakes in different arrangements: scattered and in rows. This helps children see how different arrangements affect their counting process.
Using Comparison Vocabulary:
To deepen their understanding of quantities, students will use comparison terms such as ‘more than’, ‘fewer than’, and ‘the same as’. They will compare the number of cupcakes and eggshells (by color) using these terms.
3. Visual Data Representation:
We encourage you to support your child by discussing these activities at home. Ask them about their sorting and counting experiences, and how they used comparison vocabulary. This engagement will help reinforce their learning and make math a fun part of everyday life.
Thank you for your continued support in your child's learning journey.
