One Journey

To practice meaningful relationships and understand how to learn and succeed together.
Dear Parents,
This term, Room 13 will be exploring exciting new topics and activities. Here’s a quick overview of what we’ll be focusing on:
Sustainability Theme: We will introduce the concept of sustainability through our unit "Me the Chief Kaitiaki". Students will learn about their role in caring for the environment and the importance of being responsible stewards of our planet.
Environmental Awareness: In our final lesson, we will discuss a current issue impacting Auckland— the recent massive sewage leak. Students will understand how this problem affects our environment and our community.
Social Action: To help students feel empowered, they will write letters to the Mayor of Auckland. In their letters, they will express their thoughts on the issue and suggest ways to improve the situation, learning how their voices can make a difference.
We’re excited for this term’s activities and look forward to engaging your child in meaningful and impactful learning.

Sunday 26th of May – Saturday 1st June
The week started off with celebrating Samoan Language Week at Homai School . Events included traditional ceremonies like the Ava ritual and dynamic cultural performances.
Also, Homai School marked one year of the Tapasā o lē Fōlauga Samoan bilingual unit with a cake-cutting ceremony. The 2024 theme for Samoa Language Week is 'Tautua i le alofa, manuia le lumana’i – Serve in love for a blessed future'.
This theme derives from the overarching Language Week Series theme for 2024, 'Sustainability'.
What does the phrase ‘Tautua i le alofa’ mean? The concept of tautua focuses on the phrase – “Serve in love”. Love is the driving force of service. No matter what service looks like or who is doing it, service is accomplished through the power of love.
