Here is the student handbook for concurrent enrollment classes. YOU MUST READ THIS IN ORDER TO SIGN UP FOR CONCURRENT ENROLLMENT CLASSES.
We offer courses that students can take here at HTC that count as a dual credit, concurrent enrollment class. This means that students are able to take a class, in person here at HTC that counts as a college and high school class. These classes are taught by teachers here at HTC and they work with faculty liaison from SCC to give students the experience of a college level class at the high school.
In order to sign up for classes you must enroll at SCC as a High School Student and complete the Jump Start Application. Once you have applied and have been accepted then you can sign up for online classes through your SCC account. Then you must fill out a PACE (above) in order to receive both college and high school credit.
Concurrent Enrollment Courses Offered at HTC:
Composition I
Composition II
Introduction to Literature
World Literature
Statistics
College Algebra
Trigonometry & Analytical Geometry
Calculus I
Agriculture Selling
Ag Career Seminar

Survey of Animal Industry
In addition to concurrent enrollment classes listed above, you can also sign up to take online college courses or courses that are help on SCC's campus. Students will be scheduled for their online course during different blocks of the school day to allow them time to work on their course work.

If you are having trouble logging into your SCC email and accounts, please click the button below to go to the SCC IT Help Desk website. Here you will be able to get information about your email, password, and any other issues you may be having with your account as well as their phone number and email.
In order to protect SCC data and make sure that our information remains safe, SCC is implementing Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA). This means that any time an SCC employee or SCC student wants to log in to their SCC account (whether it be a class or their SCC email), they will be required to provide an additional verification step. The powerpoint is provided to help instruct you on how to enroll in and download MFA.
If you sign up for one of these courses you are both a HTC and SCC student so you will be help accountable to the rules in both the HTC Student Handbook and the SCC Concurrent Enrollment Student Handbook.
THESE GRADES FOLLOW YOU
these are college credit classes, so these grades will follow you through your high school and college career and can affect your financial aid, course enrollments, and other areas of your college career.
1 credit hour in class = 2 hours outside of class
these courses are college courses which means that you will have to allocate more time and effort into these courses that you would your high school courses.
3 credit hours = 6 hours outside of class.
These courses follow SCC's calendar of classes. SCC's Fall Semester typically starts before our fall semester. This means that you will have to start your SCC course(s) before you return to HTC in the fall.
In order to apply to colleges, universities, jobs, or some scholarships you may need to provide an official college transcript. IF YOU TOOK A CLASS THROUGH SCC you will need to request a transcript from the SCC website in order for SCC to send a transcript. This includes any dual credit classes that you took at HTC, but are also SCC classes (DC Composition, DC Statistics, DC U.S. Government, etc.). In order to request a transcript go to SCC's home page (www.scciowa.edu) and scroll all the way to the bottom. In the first list next to SCC's address, click "Request a Transcript", this will lead you to the National Student Clearinghouse Student Transcript Ordering Center. There will be a fee for sending a transcript so please READ ALL THE INSTRUCTIONS TO KNOW WHEN IS THE BEST TIME TO REQUEST A TRANSCRIPT so then you do not need to send more than one to the same place. Please let me or April Gerst (Student Success Advocate) know if you have difficulty ordering a transcript.
