Part 2: Group Reflection on COVID-19 Stories

All descriptions of COVID-19 Stories from Weekend Conversations should be posted to this Padlet. Be sure to include the student's name in the Title --The name of the student you interviewed and your name.


Afternoon Exploration (Holton)

Assignment #1: On your own, review the student COVID-19 Stories on the Padlet and answer the following questions in your Virtual Journal

  1. What were some of your first impressions after interviewing different students about their COVID-19 experience?
  2. Describe some patterns or themes of experience that are different between the Washington, D.C. area and Lima? Were there certain points of connection? What were they?
  3. After reading the stories from others, what did you find interesting or surprising? What questions do you still have?

Assignment #2: On your own, spend some time reviewing the perspectives from Healthcare workers, Essential Workers and Business Owners on this document.


Then, create a sketchnote for your assigned perspective to share in our afternoon gathering. Take a photo to share with your group in the afternoon. In your sketchnote: gather relevant quotes and perspectives that you read, watched or heard about. While reviewing the resources here, try and post an answer to at least THREE questions on this Padlet.

  • What are some of your take-aways from the perspective deep-dive? What confirms what you already knew and what new perspectives have you encountered? Why do you think this was a completely new perspective for you?

  • Why might it be important to consult multiple perspectives and forms of media to gain a more complete understanding of a topic?
