Game Design 1

This course will allow students to explore the basics of computer hardware components and develop computational thinking skills, which will assist students in problem solving through creating games in appropriate computer applications.  Students will develop an understanding of game design through the history of video games, user interactions, coding, developer testing, debugging, peer critiquing, user testing, and user feedback. The students will learn and utilize three dimensional design software to create and print an original sprite.  The course will utilize 21st-Century learning skills such as collaboration, communication, and teamwork to create solutions. 

Bloxel

Students will learn about types of games, how to outline a game storyline, character development, and planning through a storyboard. Students will design, playtest, and iterate pixel art games using Bloxel.

Scratch

Students will utilize scratch to enhance their game design skills to incorporate block coding.  Students will program, playtest, and iterate a three level game.
