Collaborative & Community Projects
During School Closure, many students wanted to explore their creativity in the kitchen. We explored digital art, presentation strategies and shared our creations with the community via the RAMS Community Cookbook.
We also went on a virtual field trip to the Getty Museum and tried to recreate famous art pieces with objects from around our own homes. This was called the #Getty Challenge.
My children and I painted my van for our drive-through graduation celebrations that spring:
In 2020, I made sure that every 6th, 7th and 8th Grader created at least 1 kirgami butterfly, for a total of almost 7,000! Our installation in the Media Center uses color to represent the potential loss of biodiversity if we do not take care of this threatened pollinator.
RAMS 6th 7th and 8th graders competed to see which grade could fold the most kirigami butterflies to raise awareness for this incredible but threatened species. The gradual loss of color in our installation symbolizes the real threat of the loss of biodiversity should this population of pollinators continue to decline.
