During the summer of 2017, I took the Hyperdocs course online with Sandy Dowling and Michelle Hastings. In the fall, my principal, David Keim, asked if I could offer a curriculum series from November to March. I knew this would be a perfect fit and I was eager to have the opportunity to share my learning with others!

I knew this would be a perfect fit and I was eager to have the opportunity to share my learning with others!
This course ran over five curriculum sessions between November and March. I also presented about Hyperdocs at a staff meeting as well as Holliston's Technology Professional Development day. Teachers had an opportunity to give me feedback at the end of the course via a Google form. I really enjoyed the focused opportunity to deep dive into digital lesson planning with teachers. I'm hopeful that next year we can offer something on student portfolios for teachers. They seemed to really appreciate the focused time as well and we discussed writing it into their goals next year to make the course even more meaningful to them!

I came up with "creation tools" that teachers could use to share their projects. Teachers enjoyed trying out the green screen and Chatterpix app. There is a PBL Share presentation attached as evidence of this day. PBL really helps with student engagement and high expectations! Teachers saw first hand how everyone can participate in unique ways!

Several teachers are still using the old version of Google Sites so this was somewhat overwhelming to them to learn "yet another tool". I reassured them that the new version of Sites is much more user friendly and that they can slowly transition their sites over. An excellent way to learn the tool is through their students using it to create their own student portfolios! I would love to see this as a possible curriculum series during the 2018-2019 school year. I believe teachers need time to digest and walk away from new tools to process how they would use them in their classrooms. In December, I introduced Google Sites to my first semester 5th grade students. I have always found the best way to introduce new technology to teachers is through the students. Once students are hooked it becomes a natural fit for teachers. The pressure of being the "expert" fades and they rely on students to teach them!

I'm currently meeting with Winnie Carey to discuss how we plan to approach 5th grade teachers in the coming weeks to support them and their students with uploading content to their digital portfolios. I plan to follow up next fall with select classes to see how their portfolios are being used at the 6th grade level.

I look forward to exploring Seesaw with my 3rd and 4th graders next year. I plan to partner with Winnie Carey, Technology Integration Specialist, to see about formally creating seesaw accounts for all students K-4.
