Holbrook Unified School District through the district's diverse funding sources is able to offer one of the more competitive starting salaries in the state of Arizona. With a base of $45,500 newly starting teachers may earn up to $53,000 or more after performance pay, professional development days, extra duty, and other compensation opportunities. Starting Salary: $46,000
Our starting salary is $45,000. This is the base level pay for teachers entering their first year of teaching. If there are verifiable years of experience the starting base increases incrementally.
Performance Pay: up to $3,000 -$9,000
Teachers working with their site administrators set goals for student growth and success. To the extent these goals are reached, teachers are eligible for up to $8,000 in performance pay stipends based on Arizona's Prop 301 plan.
Special Assignment Pay: $2,500- $7,500
If you are qualified to teach a special assignment in the district such as, special education, you qualify for special assignment pay. Additionally teachers serving at our Indian Wells Elementary School campus qualify for this additional pay. This stipend amount grows incrementally with years of continuous support in a specialized area.
Professional Development Pay: $1,000
Twice a year the district provides an entire day of professional development. Each of these days are above and beyond the terms of your contract and are compensated $500 for each day.
First Year Orientation Pay: $2,000
Teachers new to our district, whether you have no experience or many years, are oriented to our philosophy, practices, procedures, culture, and more. This is typically done during the four days immediately prior to the start of the school year. These days are above and beyond your normal duties and contract and compensated $500 each for a total of $2,000. This is only available your first year with the district.
In addition to offering a competitive starting salary, Holbrook believes in rewarding continuing teachers with annual raises. The amounts vary based on available funding but over the past seven years Holbrook Unified School District has managed to give more than 25% in raises.

Holbrook Unified School District partners with an Arizona public education pool Kairos to offer exceptional medical coverage to employees. The district covers the entire premium (approx $12,000) for full time employees who participate in the district's wellness incentive plan. Individuals have the opportunity to purchase additional coverage for children and spouse.
The insurance plan offered by the district is quite comprehensive and covers medical, dental, vision, short-term disability, and life. While there is no monthly or pay period cost to the employee for individual coverage there is a low deductible that must be met out of pocket. For such expenses we offer Flexible Spending Accounts and Health Savings Accounts.
It's never too early to plan for retirement. The state of Arizona offers a public educator pension plan. The district matches the mandatory employee contribution of over 12% - subject to change annually. These contributions can later be taken in a lump sum or guaranteed payments for life at the time of your retirement from an Arizona State Retirement employer.
The state retirement plan also provides disability income in the event you are no longer able to work for an extended period of time or indefinitely.

Teachers are provided 10 days of leave at the start of each year.
The district calendar includes one week off in the fall, two weeks in the winter, and one in the spring in addition to summers off.

Staff is also given access to legal, counseling, and financial advice through our Employee Wellness Program at no cost to them.
The district offers for purchase additional life, short term disability, and other specific insurances such as accident and cancer policies. Employees are also given access to our 4,000 square foot fitness facility equipped with more than $100,000 worth of equipment designed for circuit style training.
