To remain a member of NHS, you must maintain the following qualifications
Your unweighted GPA must stay above a 3.24. Your sponsor will check your GPA in December and May. Students who have dropped below the requirement will have one semester to bring up their grades.
You must remain in good disciplinary standing. A description of infractions and the removal process is detailed below.
You must attend all meetings or provide an excused absence from the sponsor.
At the end of each semester, members must submit a completed community service log with 10 hours.
Yearly membership dues must be current. Currently, the dues are $20 and they are used for our end of the year celebration.

NHS Removal Policy
Minor Infractions
Definition: Failing to attend meetings, failing to attend activities that the member agreed to attend, late payment of dues or turning in community service late.
After the first minor infraction, a warning letter is sent out.
After a second minor infraction in a year, a warning letter is sent and the student is now on probation.
After the third minor infraction in a year, the Faculty Committee is called. The infractions are explained and a vote is called for removing the student from NHS.
Mid-level Infractions
Definition: Falling to attend installation or induction, if a members GPA drops below a 3.24, failing to complete the 10-hour community service, receiving a write-up for cheating/plagiarism or if the member fails to participate in the book study.
After the first mid-level infraction, a warning letter is sent and the student is now on probation.
After the second mid-level infraction in a year, the Faculty Committee is called. The infractions are explained and a vote is called for removing the student from NHS.
Major Infraction
Definition: A student is written up for a major discipline offense: drinking, drugs, fighting, etc..
After the first major infraction, the Faculty Committee is called. The infraction is explained and a vote is called for removing the student from NHS.
Consequences
A student who is removed from NHS may not rejoin it. The student’s name will be stricken from the rolls. If they were awarded a membership pin or badge, they must return them. A student who is removed will not be reimbursed for their dues.
