The Making of the Major General David Wooster Statue - THE FIRST PORTION OF THE PAGE
The Statue Dedication Ceremony, Saturday, July 24th, 2021 - THE SECOND PORTION OF THE PAGE
The images above show the AMAZING detail that sculptor Alan Cottrill has added to this original work. Notice the pull of the knee breeches on the right leg. Even the hat is a bit worn. No detail has been left out of this statue. I truly believe that through this work of art General Wooster will finally receive his well deserved place in American History!
These images here show the progression of the statue from its original idea, through Alan Cottrill's work on the 18" wax maquette, the the full size statue and the bust. The bust was sculpted separately so anyone who may want just a bronze casting of the bust can have that. Once it was molded it was then added to the full size statue frame.
The work done on this statue is absolutely stunning!
251 years ago, Brigadier General David Wooster was shot and killed after defending his home colony of Connecticut at the Battle of Ridgeville. To date there is no bronze statue honoring this great American ANYWHERE in the world. This error has now been corrected. A 7' bronze statue of General David Wooster now stands proudly on the front lawn of the Wayne County Public Library's main campus in downtown Wooster, Ohio, just one block west of the square.
Special THANKS to MR. BOBBY WARREN of WOOSTER MEDIA GROUP for filming the Dedication Ceremony on Saturday, July 24th, 2021. First is a fun promo video we made on Friday, July 23.
