The images above show the AMAZING detail that sculptor Alan Cottrill has added to this original work. Notice the pull of the knee breeches on the right leg. Even the hat is a bit worn. No detail has been left out of this statue. I truly believe that through this work of art General Wooster will finally receive his well deserved place in American History!
These images here show the progression of the statue from its original idea, through Alan Cottrill's work on the 18" wax maquette, the the full size statue and the bust. The bust was sculpted separately so anyone who may want just a bronze casting of the bust can have that. Once it was molded it was then added to the full size statue frame.
The work done on this statue is absolutely stunning!
The Statue of Major General David Wooster is the first ever bronze statue of this American Hero!
The statue was completed in the spring of 2020, right in the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic. The general is depicted in his American Revolutionary War uniform at the outset of the war in 1775. Wooster was 65 years old at that time.
The sculptor Alan Cottrill put such detail into the face that one can feel and see the dedication, pride, courage, conviction and determination in this great piece of art.
This statue will be a crown jewel for the city of Wooster!

The Major-General David Wooster Bronze Statue is placed on the north lawn of the Wayne County Public Library in Wooster, Ohio.
251 years ago, Brigadier General David Wooster was shot and killed after defending his home colony of Connecticut at the Battle of Ridgeville. To date there is no bronze statue honoring this great American ANYWHERE in the world. This error has now been corrected. A 7' bronze statue of General David Wooster now stands proudly on the front lawn of the Wayne County Public Library's main campus in downtown Wooster, Ohio, just one block west of the square.
