Hello and Welcome!
I want to begin by thanking you all for your support and commitment toward your child’s learning by sending your child to our Pre-K program here at the Hartington-Newcastle site. I am confident that your child will enjoy and grow from the experiments, learning, and play that is experienced throughout the year in our Preschool classroom.
I am very excited to start the year with your children and help them to learn through the fun, scientific, and playful experiences that I have planned for the year! It will be a year I hope they never forget!
Below you will find important information for next year. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me.
Communication with Mrs.Kathol:
We will use the App “Seesaw” to communicate during the school year. There will be important information, pictures, updates, etc. posted on this app. I will send you log in information at the beginning of the year to set this up. I also will provide you with my e-mail and cell phone number.

I will not send home a newsletter every week. I will send it out on Seesaw and the Website. You can save the link to this classroom website on any smart phone, and I would be happy to help you do this if you would like!
Purple Communication Folder:
You are welcome to send a note to school in this folder. We will also send things home in this folder. Be sure to check it daily.
Classroom Rules:
In the classroom we will be using four very simple rules to keep our classroom a great learning environment. You will find that any behavior that may occur will fall under one of these rules. Examples: a student runs in the classroom- not being safe, a student is caught fighting either verbally or physically- not being respectful, a student is caught playing in the bathroom- not being responsible.
BE SAFE…refrain from any activities that could be dangerous to yourself, others, or property.
BE RESPONSIBLE…be sure to come prepared to class everyday with your folder. Take care of your and other peoples’ materials. Manage your behavior in and out of the classroom.
BE RESPECTFUL…respect every person in and out of our classroom. Speak in a tone that will help to solve problems.
Good Listener Expectations
1. Eyes Watching
2. Ears Listening
3. Mouth Quiet
4. Body Still
CONSEQUENCES
1. Training/practice sessions. This is what preschool is all about! We will continually reteach the appropriate behavior we want to see. We will use our calm down corner to help students learn to self regulate their emotions and behaviors.
2. Communication to parents and/or principal. (this will occur only if the behavior is serious or is not showing improvement after numerous attempts to train/practice an acceptable alternative behavior)
